I AM Poetry

I AM poems are a type of format poem. They begin with I and are between ten and fifteen lines in length. They describe a character in a story without actually stating the character's name. Mrs. Hoyme's Fourth Graders had great fun creating I AM poems describing different characters from Theme III in the Houghton-Mifflin reading series - "That's Amazing!".

We hope you enjoy reading our poetry......

I Am...
By Alexis

I am fast and strong.|
I am a dark brown animal.
I can plow a field in record time.
I like to run in an open field.
I am medium sized.

I am fast and strong.
I have a black mane.
I have long brown ears.
I have short sturdy legs.
I got stuck in bread at the farm during a heat wave.

I am fast and strong.
I live at a farm in Kansas.
I get annoyed when it snows early.
I am a member of the horse family.
I am Sally, the Mule.

I Am...
By Gavin

I am rich and fancy.
I always get grumpy when I'm annoyed.
I can be fierce when people bug me.
I cannot be nice to my family.
I have a poor stepsister.

I am nice and fancy.
I do not like to help others.
I have very fat toes.
I like to be by myself.
I have no friends.

I am rich and fancy.
I like handsome Prince Paul.
I have lots of jewelry.
I treat people badly.
I have lots of beautiful dresses.

I am Vitaline.

I Am...

I am white and small.
I eat corn when I'm hungry.
I sleep on alfalfa hay.
I have lots of white friends.
I eat oats a lot, too.

I am white and small.
I am strong and not too fast.
I have a fantastic owner.
I sleep in a little cozy house.
I live on a big farm in Kansas.

I am white and small.
I have three toes on each foot.
I have lots of white feathers.
I lay small eggs usually once or twice a day.
I am a chicken.

I Am...

I am glamorous and exquisite.
I went to a ball at Monsieur Thibault's.
I wear a big smile all of the time.
I have an obnoxious stepsister.
I have a mean stepmother.

I am glamorous an  exquisite.
I danced with handsome Prince Paul.
I have a godmother who has a magic wand.
I live on the small island of Martinique.
I wash clothes for people.

I am glamorous and exquisite
I ride in a coach magically made from breadfruit by my godmother.
I left the ball at midnight.
I lost an elegant pink slipper.
I am Cendrillon.

I Am
By Brandi

I am mean and horrid.
I have a pretty sister.
I like handsome Prince Paul.
I have fat feet.
I went to the royal ball.

I am mean and horrid.
I have a cruel mom.
I am picky about what I wear.
I don't like my sister because she gets a lot.
I am aggressive all the time.

I am mean and horrid.
I am crazy about  striking Prince Paul.
I am crabby most of the time.
I am strange.
I am Vitaline.

I am mean and ugly.
I went to a ball at Prince Paul's.
I am not married.
I live in a beautiful mansion.
I have a helpful maid.

I am mean and ugly.
I went to the ball in a fancy dress.
I am mean to my little sister.
I have a cruel mother like me.
I am very rich.
I am mean and ugly.
I do not have a godmother.
I have my own room.
I did not fit into the pink embroidered slipper.
I am Vitaline.
