The Academic Practice Test
Package(s), specifically the ACT practice tests are now available for the
2007-08 school year. Users at these sites may access the practice test
package(s) purchased by our school district by following the procedure described
below.
-
Log into MCIS
www.mncis.intocareers.org (our user name is listed in the fall
newsletter) Hint: town name and mascot.)
-
Scroll down to see "Practice tests" under Additional
Resources on the far right hand side. In the near future, you may click on
the link contained in the graphic in the center of your screen titled
"Prepare and take free practice tests."
-
The next screen provides overview information on what
practice tests are available. At the bottom of the page the user can "Click"
to continue.
-
The next screen either requires users to either log into
their portfolios or to create a portfolio if they don't already have one.
-
After completing the portfolio step, click "Start" using
the Minnesota Career Information System.
-
Click either "Yes" or "No" for portfolio access and then
click "Submit." (Typically, our students will click yes). Their
information is not shared if they do this. Only the school counselor sees
their info.
-
The user returns to the Home Page and clicks on "My MCIS"
in the upper right of the screen. Now in their portfolio they will see links
to the test packages available at their site. They might see a link to the
Academic Practice Tests, More Academic Practice Tests (AP and SAT Subject),
Civil Service Practice Tests or links to multiple tests.
-
Once they click on one of the links they will be sent to
Thomsen Peterson's website where they can follow instructions to take a
practice test.
PLEASE NOTE: After initial
set up, students should always log in to MCIS with their personal username and
password then click on "My MCIS" and the practice test(s) will be an option.
Students should keep a record of their personal username and password. This
year’s freshmen have set up their portfolio during their career unit in Computer
9 with myself and Mr. Leppke. They have their username and password listed on
their career plan which is kept in their portfolio in the Counselor’s Office.
