New Executive Order 20-99

November 19, 2020

Last night, Governor Tim Walz informed Minnesota of a new executive order that goes into effect Friday, November 20 at 11:59 pm and will continue until Friday, December 18 at 11:59 pm.  With this new executive order, no sports or sports activities (public and private) will be permitted anywhere in the state.  This includes all practices, group workouts, games and tournaments, use of the weight room or any school facilities during the four (4) week “pause” as stated in the executive order.  This order does not change the guidance for the instructional school day.

This is not the news we were hoping for as we finish our fall sports season and begin to enter the winter seasons.  We know how important these activities are to our students and community and we wanted nothing more than to allow them to continue.  Mr. Fink, coaches and the athletic directors in our region worked hard to schedule games and officials for our athletes this fall.  They tried hard to make sure our students had every opportunity to play.  We are thankful for the games we were able to play up to this point.  Unfortunately, at this time we will need to take a break with the hope we get this virus under control to a point that will allow us to bring back sports and activities in December.

The goal is to return on December 21 for the start of the winter sports season.  We will keep you informed of any changes to this schedule.

Thank you and stay safe!
