Good Luck to the Cross Country Team at State! They had a great send off today that began with them running the halls at the elementary school, a pep-rally at the high school and it concluded with a V.I.P. escort out of town by the Police and Fire Departments! Go Lancers!

Canby Elementary Student Council hosted a pumpkin display contest. Teachers decorated a pumpkin to represent a character from a children’s book. Students then needed to help finish the display by creating an element that helped bring the children’s book to life. All displays had to be completed by October 25th for judging. Our judges were Superintendent Nielsen and school board members: Angela Leppke and Brenda Full. There were a total of 20 different displays judged and the competition was fierce! Each display was judged on three different categories. The categories included: creativity, originality, and most Halloween. The Most Creative award went to Ms. Schacherer’s Preschool class and Mrs. Wright’s 5th Grade Class. The Most Original Award went to Ms. Berckes’ 4th Grade Class and Mrs. Slaba’s 3rd Grade Class. The Most Halloween Award went to Mrs. Crowley’s 2nd Grade Class. Our office staff, lunch staff, and paraprofessionals even put together great displays! The contest was fun for both students and staff, plus the displays helped dress up the hallways for Halloween!
